64,472 - A new club record attendance?
It had been reported West Ham recently applied for another stadium capacity extension from 62,500. It might be a typo but 64,472 is reported on the OS, BBC website and MotD as well as Live Score and Sky Sports.

If correct we are comfortably ahead of both Spurs and Arsenal as London's best supported club and only second to Manure in England

The huge gaps are predominantly due to the placement of the screens and moving the lower tier forward.

I dont know why they don't move the screens back and fill.that gap with seats.

Re: 64,472 - A new club record attendance?
It didn't - the seats started and ended further back. The gap is only there now as the seats have been moved forward over the running track.

Why did the original stadium design leave those two open areas at either end ?

Am guessing the extra 2,000 were journalists there to write endless stories about how Man Utd lost while ignoring that we WON
They then decamped to Old Trafford to wank on about how Man U won while ignoring the fact that the higher placed Villa lost

Surely the big open areas between the upper tiers could accommodate some safe standing?

Yes there were a lot of temporary toilets outside the turnstiles.

There were loads of temporary ones. Can't find anything written about it particularly other than this which alludes to it - https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2012/jul/26/london-2012-olympic-park-sustainability

The stadium held 80 000 during the Olympics. It obviously had enough toilets then . So why not now . I smell a rat and it answers to the name Daniel.

Re: 64,472 - A new club record attendance?
Some of those empty seats are always empty due to the restrictions on what can be sold so when a season ticket holder sells his seat its not necessarily his seat but one around the stadium . , the ones at the top either will never be used apparently leaving a total of 70,000 max, shame there are way more seats in there and also a shame there white.

Re: 64,472 - A new club record attendance?
They should do something with the big green areas between the upper and lower seating behind the goals. It's an enormous space that surely some marketing / entertainment types could put to good use for our benefit.

Re: 64,472 - A new club record attendance?
Max, the club has applied for planning permission to increase the permitted capacity to use all 68,000 seats currently in the ground.

There are hopes the extra capacity will be introduced in time for the 2026-27 season.

It is understood minor alterations will need to be completed before the capacity can be raised, including increasing catering and toilet facilities.

Current stadium license allows for 62,250. IMHO its laughable but that's how it is.

The real issue is if we really did have 64,472 in against Manure we maybe in some hot water

York. Well I hardly ever go to home matches. I either give my ST seat to my kids or sell back via the club. I only keep it so I can get away tickets and go to 90% of aways. I know others who do the same.

Re: 64,472 - A new club record attendance?
No typo. it is the new capacity. And all clubs report tickets sold in the PL these days. All clubs do ST resales and it is pretty easy to get tickets for any game in the Prem via resales. The fact that we sell so many tickets consistently if great for the club and testament to the marketing department making sure they sell the limited number of non-ST seats available.

Re: 64,472 - A new club record attendance?
We report seats sold,.not how many attended.

There couldn't possibly be 64k yesterday due to capacity. So.im guessing typo

Re: 64,472 - A new club record attendance?
Do they still count ST holders who aren't present or numbers through the gate ?
I'm not a season ticket holder or a member but can always pick up a ticket for league games through the ticket website by including the resale filter.
When I attend I'm normally informed that I've got someone's seat who don't bother much anymore and on most occasions there are other unoccupied seats around me.
Trying to get a ticket for Europa league later stages through this channel will (if previous years is anything to go by) be a virtual impossibility as after the ST holders have bought there's they seem to get farmed out to P3 travel who then sell at a vastly inflated price.

Always loads of empty seats there... Though yesterday was quite full, but still a few around.

Capacity has been 62,500 since the beginning of last season and every Premier League game has been sold out since.
